Sustainable development at various sites across Iceland
Our partner offers volunteering placements at various locations across Iceland, focusing on biodiversity conservation, peace-building and the promotion of volunteering. The main aim of the projects is to raise awareness among local and international young people about sustainable development in their daily lives. Volunteers from all over the world thus have the opportunity to get involved in various sustainable development projects taking place in the north and south of Iceland: Brù, Krýsuvík, Hveragerdi, Sólheimar, Siglufjörður…
Workshops on the world’s major challenges!
In each project, volunteers take part in workshops on green energy, waste management, global warming and more. For those who wish to get involved in a variety of projects, our partner has created a six-week programme focused on sustainable development and protecting the planet. A truly unique way to discover Iceland!
The eco-volunteer is involved in three different projects in Iceland
This multi-project programme allows you to explore Iceland whilst contributing to sustainable development and the protection of biodiversity. You will be working at the sites in Siglufjörður, BRÚ and Krýsuvík.
- Siglufjörður: In Siglufjörður, the main industry is forestry. You will work closely with the Icelandic Forestry Association and local organisations. Your tasks will depend on the needs of the local community and the season. You may also be involved in beach clean-up operations!
- BRÚ: At BRÚ, our main activity is beach cleaning. As well as the tonnes of rubbish collected from beaches every year, beach clean-ups are a great way for volunteers to raise awareness of the litter problem. It’s also a great way to get active!
- Krýsuvík: In Krýsuvík, the aim is to develop local, organic and sustainable agriculture. Your role will involve looking after the land in various ways, working closely with local organisations.
