One Earth, one home: let’s fight against global warming

Our partner offers volunteering opportunities at various locations across Iceland, focusing on biodiversity conservation, peace-building and the promotion of volunteering. The main aim of these projects is to raise awareness among local and international young people about sustainable development in their daily lives. Volunteers from all over the world therefore have the opportunity to get involved in various sustainable development projects taking place in both the north and south of Iceland

At the Brù Centre

Our partner runs the Brù centre along the Hrutafjordur fjord. This centre specialises in the environment and sustainable development. It welcomes eco-volunteers under the theme ‘One Earth, One Home: Let’s Fight Global Warming’. You will be involved in various activities, such as beach clean-ups, and will take part in workshops on global warming.

Beach clean-ups and climate workshops

The Brù Centre, situated along the Hrutafjordur fjord in north-western Iceland, offers a range of activities that depend largely on the season and weather conditions.
Here are some examples of the tasks you will be asked to carry out:

  • Beach clean-up
  • Tree planting
  • Harvesting lupins
  • Renovation
  • Recycling.

Several workshops will be held each week, focusing in particular on global warming and ways to prevent it. These workshops aim to raise environmental awareness among project participants.
This camp is perfect for people who enjoy working outdoors! But it’s also ideal for anyone who wants to have a great time as part of an international team, and for those who are concerned about the challenges posed by global warming.

  • Every mission begins with a two-day pre-camp in Reykjavik
  • Working hours average 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
