At a wildlife sanctuary in the Amazon

Situated deep in the Amazon rainforest, this rehabilitation centre takes in wild animals that have fallen victim to illegal trafficking (parrots, monkeys, coatis, turtles, etc.). More than 120 animals are cared for there, and some are released back into their natural habitat each year. The centre also participates in scientific conservation projects, particularly those focusing on spider monkeys.

The work of the eco-volunteer

Volunteers help with the day-to-day running of the sanctuary:

  • Preparing meals and feeding the animals
  • Cleaning and maintenance of enclosures
  • Creating enrichment activities to encourage natural behaviours
  • Maintenance of the centre (DIY, painting, repairs, etc.)
  • Leading guided tours to raise visitors’ awareness
  • Support for environmental education activities

Depending on your skills, you may be offered additional tasks such as graphic design, carpentry, communications, copywriting, etc.

  • Minimum 4 weeks, all year round
