Are you passionate about nature and photography? Our nature photography course is just what you’re looking for! This course has two main aims: to help you develop your photographic technique and to expand your knowledge of flora and fauna. You’ll be guided by wildlife photography enthusiasts who’ll help you with everything from getting to grips with your camera to composing your shots. This course is an opportunity to develop your nature identification skills so you can recognise the species (plants and animals) you might encounter on your walks.
In photography, you learn to
- Make sure you are fully familiar with your equipment and the principles of photography.
- The three basic settings and their implications: ISO, aperture, shutter speed
- The various automatic modes
- Macroentomology
- The Botany module
- Photographing birds in flight
- Setting up a hide
- Suitable for photographing landscapes, including at night
In ornithology, you learn to
- Identifying the main common birds
- Identify the main common birds in their natural habitats
- Gaining a better understanding of these birds’ ecology
In Entomology, the course consists of
- Understanding and describing the morphology of insects
- To be familiar with and able to identify the orders of insects and some of their features of interest to photographers
- To recognise and identify the common families and species of butterflies
In Botany, you are introduced to
- An understanding of plant structures and how they grow
- Morphological analysis of plants
- Identification of plant families based on their morphological characteristics
- Identifying the main families of plants
Certification exam
Our partner offers those who wish to do so the opportunity to sit a certification exam in naturalist skills in the fields of ornithology, botany and entomology. This certification, organised by level and naturalist discipline, will lead to the award of a ‘certificate of naturalist skills’ as well as an ‘Open Badge’ detailing the body of knowledge and associated skills. These certificates will enable you to demonstrate the naturalist knowledge and technical skills acquired during these training courses.

The wildlife photography course takes place in the Champsaur Valley on the edge of the Ecrins National Park (France – Hautes-Alpes). You will be guided by wildlife photography enthusiasts and nature guides.
It is open to anyone aged 18 or over
