Study Przewalski’s horses in Mongolia. Collect data on one of the world’s rarest and most endangered horse species, the wild Takhi or Przewalski’s horse! See all horse programmes here
Reintroduction of Przewalski’s horse in Mongolia
Przewalski’s wild horses became extinct in the mid-20th century. The last Przewalski’s horse, also known as the Takhi, is said to have been seen around 1966. It is one of the few horse species never to have been domesticated! This makes it the only species of wild horse in the world today.
In a nature reserve in the Töv region
The main aim of the project, based in a nature reserve in Töv Province, Mongolia, is to conduct research on Przewalski’s horses to ensure their protection. Biologists are studying their behaviour and interactions with ecosystems with a view to reintroducing them into the wild.
Our partner, Fronteering, will place you within the project in Mongolia, which relies on eco-volunteers to assist the scientists with their various tasks.
Collect data on Przewalski’s horses
You will assist biologists in their efforts to reintroduce the Przewalski’s horse, also known as the wild Takhi.
