Farm and ranch volunteering abroad
Eco-volontaire lists carefully selected volunteer projects on farms and ranches around the world, run by families, local associations or specialised volunteering agencies that we have vetted for their ethics and their respect for animals and the land.
What you can do:
– Join organic farms in Costa Rica, on Ecuador’s Pacific coast and in Kenya’s Great Rift Valley, and learn agroecology in practice.
– Practise permaculture on a farm in the Galapagos that helps protect endemic species.
– Live on a horse farm in the Costa Rican jungle, discover natural horsemanship, or experience daily life on a ranch in Canada.
– Work with white huskies on a dog-sledding ranch in the Canadian Far North.
– Care for rescued domestic and farm animals at a sanctuary farm in Chile, or live in a rural Mexican village with a close bond to its horses.
Who it’s for: most projects are open to volunteers aged 18 and over, and some welcome families. No previous farming or riding experience is needed.
Languages: English on most projects, plus the local language and, for some projects, French.
How it works: contact the partner organisation directly through Eco-volontaire, free of charge. You book with them at their own price: using Eco-volontaire adds nothing to what you pay.
