Study and protection of the ocean through scuba diving along the Portuguese coastline
Live an unforgettable adventure by joining a marine conservation program in Lisbon. Our partner works with a local diving school specializing in the protection of marine life. This program allows you to dive, work towards a healthy ocean and gain experience in marine conservation! While diving, you will learn to identify the main threats to the marine ecosystem and be made aware of the policies protecting this ecosystem. You will join a marine conservation project whose objective is to ensure the survival of a unique marine environment along the beautiful Portuguese coastline. This marine wildlife and flora protection program studies the various species to ensure their survival. The collected data is recorded, analyzed and serves as a basis for ocean protection policies. In addition to studying wildlife and flora, the program’s mission is to collect waste from the ocean.
Study of marine environments and underwater waste collection
This marine conservation project invites volunteers to take part in various activities aimed at protecting marine wildlife and flora, including the collection of marine waste. If you are passionate about ocean conservation and love diving, this project is made for you!
Week 1: diving certification
If you have never dived before The program is open to people who have never dived before. However, they will need to begin their stay with a diving training course in order to obtain their certificate. This is an essential step to safely participate in the conservation activities. Once you have gained independence, generally during the second week, you will be able to start taking part in waste collection. If it is your first time diving and you have little or no experience, it is strongly recommended to sign up for at least two weeks to ensure you participate in the marine conservation program. If you only stay for one week, you may not take part in open-water diving.
If you are a certified diver If you are already certified in scuba diving, the instructors will assess your skills so that you can begin fully participating in the various components of the program. You can start the program at any level of experience and obtain the next level of certification accordingly!
