A sanctuary farm for badly treated animals

It's not just dogs and cats that are victims of abuse and neglect. A significant number of farm animals are also abused and starved. This wonderful volunteer project takes place at an agricultural sanctuary that has been caring for farm animals and pets in need since 2016. On nine hectares of land, neglected and abused animals are given a new home.

160 animals of 15 different species

The animals receive attention, treatment and a safe place to live. They are allowed to live the rest of their lives in the farm sanctuary and are not available for adoption. The sanctuary has already welcomed over 160 animals of 15 different species. The farm that takes in pets plays a significant role in educating people about the welfare of farm animals and pets through social networks.

If animal welfare and the importance of developing responsible animal husbandry practices are close to your heart, this eco-volunteering trip is ideal for you. You can help protect farm and domestic animals by getting involved in this project for animals in need. It's all about helping neglected and abused animals "get back on their feet", regain their trust in people and lead honorable lives. You'll enjoy this voluntary work if you like being around animals all day. However, the work involved can be difficult and demanding. Tasks must be carried out conscientiously and with care. The animals' well-being is our top priority!

As a volunteer, you will be responsible for... :

  • Taking care of animals
  • Feeding animals
  • Make sure animals always have enough water
  • Keep stables and paddocks clean
  • Building new pens and corrals
  • Upgrade/maintain existing facilities
  • Administer medication and/or participate in veterinary visits
  • Participate in fundraising campaigns
  • Public relations and education work
  • Social network updates

Nota Bene: Tasks may vary. They depend on factors such as the number of volunteers, time, season, current project needs and personal motivation. Not all volunteers can be fully involved in all tasks.

Location

Limache is a charming little town in Chile's central region. The well-known cities of Valparaiso and Viña del Mar, on the Pacific coast, are both around 35 kilometers away. With a population of around 40,000, Limache enjoys a rural setting and a relaxed lifestyle. With its mountains, hills and valleys, the town is surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Limache's public transport system provides quick access to Valparaiso and Via del Mar. Both cities are well worth a visit, and are ideal for weekend excursions. Santiago is also easily accessible by public transport and takes around two hours to reach. A trip to the city offers a fascinating contrast to life in the countryside.
