One Earth, one home, let's fight global warming

Our partner Worldwide Friends offers volunteer missions at various sites in Iceland to protect biodiversity, promote peace and volunteerism. The main aim of the projects is to raise awareness among local and international young people of sustainable development in their daily lives. Volunteers from all over the world have the opportunity to get involved in various sustainable development projects in the north and south of Iceland.

At the Brù center

Along the Hrutafjordur fjord, our partner runs the Brù center. This center specializes in the environment and sustainable development. It welcomes eco-volunteers on the theme of "One Earth, One Home: Let's Combat Global Warming". You'll be involved in a range of activities, including beach clean-ups and workshops on global warming.

Beach clean-ups and climate workshops

The Brù center, located along the Hrutafjordur fjord in northwest Iceland, offers several activities that depend mainly on the season and weather conditions.
Here are some examples of the tasks you'll be given:

  • Beach clean-up
  • Tree planting
  • Harvesting lupins
  • Renovation
  • Recycling.

Several workshops a week will be offered, focusing on global warming and how to prevent it. These workshops are designed to raise the environmental awareness of project participants.
This camp is perfect for people who enjoy working outdoors! But also for anyone who wants to have a good time with an international team and people who are concerned by the challenges of global warming.

  • Each mission begins with a two-day pre-camp in Reykjavik.
  • Working hours average 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
