Discover Iceland through ecovolunteering!

75% of terrestrial environments have been significantly altered, and over 85% of wetlands have been destroyed. The collapse of the living world is now considered a major catastrophe, ahead of global warming, which is no less than another predicted disaster.

Despite this bad news, Biodiversity Care is choosing ecological resilience by swapping the posture of denunciation for the pleasure and power of action in the field. Through action, we (and our partners) advocate the values ofcommitment, trust, adventure, emancipation andaltruism. We are committed to a joyful ecology and resilient, regenerative tourism.

A virtuous business model for biodiversity

Biodiversity Care is the company behind the eco-volontaire.com website. Biodiversity Care is part of the social and solidarity economy. Thanks to its networking platform, which makes it possible to find quality solidarity and participative trips for biodiversity, it promotes a virtuous economic cycle for biodiversity. In fact, thanks to the action and financial participation of eco-travelers, study and biodiversity preservation programs are perpetuated. Eco-travelers, also known as eco-volunteers, support organizations (NGOs, associations, non-profit structures) that are generally not subsidized by governments, particularly abroad.

Ethics and partner transparency

Purposeful travel is a long-standing theme that originated across the Channel in the 20th century. It has developed strongly in France since the 2010s. It is sometimes known as volunteering or humanitarian travel. We prefer to speak of eco-participative travel in the broadest sense, eco-volunteering missions or scientific sojourns. For us, humanitarianism and volunteering is a professional affair, where you sign a contract and where you have been selected.

Resilient and regenerative tourism

We prefer to advocate the values of resilient, regenerative tourism, and give as many people as possible the chance to take action for biodiversity in their spare time. The organizations listed on the eco-volontaire website have been selected according to ethical criteria, following interviews, evaluations by travelers and field visits. This matchmaking service is free of charge for users. We have chosen to be transparent about the organizations we work with, particularly with regard to their status.

Empowerment and self-confidence

The experience of an eco-participatory trip is powerful in terms of self-confidence and personal development. This adventure will take you out of your comfort zone, while giving you the satisfaction of seeing the results of your action. Participatory science trips enable you to learn more about research protocols. More generally, a participatory trip for biodiversity changes the way you look at the world, at the problems of our century, which become challenges to be met. These trips are also an excellent opportunity to regain confidence in the collective. You build, study and protect as part of a team made up of people from all walks of life.

A joyful ecology

More than anything else, we advocate the values of a joyful ecology! For us, taking pleasure in protecting and studying living things through action and travel is one of the main pillars of ecological resilience. And by travel, we mean away from home rather than to destinations. Admiring a sunrise, immersing yourself in nature, catching a whale's breath, feeling in communication with the wild are experiences that leave a lasting impression! Experiences that will change your relationship with nature and your everyday behavior. The time for denunciation is over! Let's give way to the pleasure of taking action!

The voyage of the future

In June 2024, the UN's tourism branch proclaimed 2027 the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism. Solidarity and participatory travel for biodiversity fits perfectly into this approach, insofar as it responds positively to the resolution of the Sustainable Development Goals of theUN's 2030 Agenda. Could biodiversity travel be the tourism of the future?
