Protecting turtles in Nusa Penida, Indonesia

The program takes place on the island of Nusa Penida, around 45 minutes by boat from Bali. This sea turtle conservation center welcomes international volunteers as part of a sustainable tourism initiative. Founded 13 years ago, the project aims to care for injured turtles, collect eggs for safe hatching, then release baby turtles when they are ready to survive at sea.

Example of a volunteer day

  • 7:00 am: breakfast at the camp with the other volunteers.
  • 8:00 am: departure for the sea turtle conservation center. Possible activities: tank cleaning, turtle feeding, creation of awareness panels, beach clean-up.
  • 11:30am: free time or relaxation by the sea.
  • 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: lunch
  • 2:30 pm: continuation of project activities or visit to natural sites (beach, mangrove forest, natural swimming pool...).
  • 7:00 pm: convivial dinner followed by a group activity (campfire, documentary, free time, games).
