As part of a sustainable tourism approach
Kenya is a world biodiversity hotspot, but conflicts between human activities and wildlife are frequent. The camp is part of a sustainable tourism approach, aimed at supporting the harmonious coexistence of local communities and natural ecosystems. This immersion allows young people to discover the challenges of conservation and actively contribute to environmental projects, while opening up to a different culture.
The work of young ecovolunteers
- Monitoring and observation of endangered species (Rothschild's giraffe, rare birds)
- Removal of invasive plants in the nature reserve
- Raising environmental awareness in communities
- Work in a local nursery and reforestation activities
- Support for a project to empower women through environmental action
- Participation in local wildlife surveys
- Cultural exchange with the Maasai community
- Involvement in nature reserve maintenance work
Example of a volunteer day
- 7:00 am: breakfast at the camp with the group.
- 8:00 am: departure for the day's site. Possible activities:
- Ecological monitoring (giraffes, birds),
- Removal of invasive plants,
- Nursery work,
- Wildlife observation and awareness.
- 11:30am: return to camp or move on to a new activity. Free time possible.
- 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: lunch
- 2:30 pm: cultural immersion or community action (Kenyan cuisine, Masai dance, beadwork workshop, projects with local women, visit to a village or discovery of an emblematic site).7:00 pm: convivial dinner followed by an evening activity (campfire, Kenyan cinema, karaoke, talent show or traditional games).
