Protecting Iceland's north coast
Our partner offers volunteer missions at various sites in Iceland to protect biodiversity and promote peace and volunteerism. Siglufjörður is a town of around 1,300 inhabitants located in northern Iceland. It is the northernmost town on the continent and is a five-hour drive from Reykjavik. It is a region of spectacular beauty! Our partner is running a project with the Icelandic Forestry Association and local associations. Most of your work will involve forestry. However, part of the project involves collecting marine debris from North America that has been carried by the Gulf Stream.
Forest conservation and beach waste collection, workshops
This volunteer program offers a wide variety of activities, particularly around forestry and forest conservation. You'll take part in forest management, particularly through planting. You'll also take part in beach clean-ups. In fact, a great deal of waste from North America is carried by the Gulf Stream and washes up on Iceland's northern coast.
Workshops on global warming
Your action will depend on the weather conditions. This camp is perfect for people who enjoy working outdoors! You'll attend workshops on global warming and how to prevent it. The aim is to develop environmental awareness together. This volunteering mission is a great way to discover Iceland with other international volunteers, and to live an unforgettable experience!
The work can be physical. Working hours average 5 hours a day, 5 days a week.
